Tasting Notes:
The 2011 Paul Cluver Gewurztraminer is again typical of the varietal, the wine with its light green tint is packed with flavour. The nose is a medley of fruit flavours, especially litchi, rose water and Turkish delight. Hints of jasmine and honeysuckle are noted in the background. The palate is a reflection of all evidenced on the nose. The balance is astounding with interesting interplay between the residual sugar and acidity. The texture and mouth coating result in salivation and eagerness for more. What to eat with: Gewurztraminer is an extremely aromatic wine with beautiful floral flavors. Because of the aromatics and the slight bit of sugar, it is a natural partner with spicy food - be it Asian or just something with chili. It also does very well with any dish containing coconut milk. But don't limit it to that - try it with white meat (fish, poultry and pork), salads, vegetable dishes or simply on its own.

The Cluver family bought the Elgin farm in 1896 to provide summer
grazing for their livestock and in the mid 1900's it became a strong
apple producing region. In the mid 1980's the area was identified as a
cool climate wine-growing region which led to the first Cluver plantings
in 1986 with Paul Cluver cellar being the first to be established in
Elgin.
