Mischa Eventide Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 Wellington

Tasting Notes:
Appearance: Bright ruby hue with a touch of youthful purple at the edge. Nose: Persistent red berry fruit on the nose with a hint of mint and tea leaves. Palate: Ripe tannins, mulberries with some coffee that harmonizes with the spice and wood flavours to make a pleasing combination a long finish. Drink with rare Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding with all the trimmings of a Sunday meal. Tasted at the beginning of June 2008 this wine is ready but will reward those who wait six months to a year before drinking. It should be drunk within the next three years to be at its peak.

Mischa Estate is the latest 'hot' property in the Cape, winning a string
of awards and receiving a 91 and 92 Parker rating for their Eventide
wines. They currently produce top quality Shiraz, Cabernet and Merlot
but they are also looking to experiment with other varieties. Shiraz in
South Africa has come a long way in the last few years and those from
Mischa are amongst the new stars. Mischa Farm has been in the Barns
family for three generations, bought after WW2 by Kelpie Barns and his
wife, ballet dancer Yvonne Blake. They ran a mixed farming operation and
in the late sixties Kelpie started to graft vines on a small scale.
Around this time the bordering farm of Eventide was also purchased.
Their son, John, further developed the business to what is today one of
the Cape's leading 'stokkies' nurseries.
