Tasting Notes:
Pronounced nose of sweet cherry, plum and forest fruit. Medium-bodied with crunchy, crisp fruit that is followed nicely by well-balanced structure. Decent length and some complexity as it opens up. Ageing potential: Best drunk young. Suggested meals: Ideal with light meat dishes, tomato based dishes, pasta, sausages or roasted vegetables.

30 minutes north east of Calatayud lies Campo de Borja DO, which now consists of some 7414 hectares and like Calatayud is dominated by a single producer with the 2 wineries: one in the Magallón, in the north; the other, just outside Fuendejalón, in the west, just a few minutes from the central bottling and ageing plant.
Here the terrain is quite different, though the climate similar, with the eastern boundary a long, wind-swept plain planted to the gunnels with young vines that provide the fruit for this winery's ever more successful supermarket selections; for Bodegas Aragonesas produces nearly 70% of all the wine in the region.
The older, un-irrigated vineyards, however, are in the west, at heights of 350 to 700 metres, in the foothills around Moncayo; and these are the source of the grapes that go into La Copa. 75% of the vineyards are Garnacha, which in this area has a distinctive red fruit character - the Tempranillo producing wines that are a tad tighter and just a shade drier. The La Copa wines are lush, fruity, modern, unoaked, and represent Spanish country wine at its most immediately appealing.
