Alto Pampas del sur Viognier 2009 Mendoza
Producer: Alto Pampas
Tasting Notes:
Viognier is a southern French grape and has its home in the expensive wines of Condrieu in the steep northern Rhône valley. Here in Mendoza, however, the conditions are ideal for this temperamental grape with sufficient heat for it to ripen fully but with good variation in nigh time and daytime temperatures to retain good acidity. The wine has a wonderful ripe apricot, honey and tropical fruit aroma with fresh acidity making this excellent as an aperitif but also great with white meat and fish dishes as well as spicy food.
Grape Variety: 100% Viognier
ABV: 13.5%
Country/Region: Argentina
Vintage: 2009
Fruit for Alto Pampas wines come from the premier Argentinean wine producing region of San Rafael in Mendoza where the focus is on a healthy balance between man and nature and the production of healthy fruit from healthy vines is taken on into the winery where hygienic conditions are paramount and the grapes treated with respect, care and dedication throughout the whole process and where distances between the various processes have minimised to avoid excessive movement of the fruit.
