Seghesio 'Cortina' Dry Creek Zinfandel 2007 Sonoma County

Tasting Notes:
Great colour and briary, spicy white pepper perfumes on the nose with minerally, loamy soil undertones. Flavours of blackberries, raspberries and ripe black currants with toasty sweet new oak are giving way to a softer, more savoury character. Good tannin structure is elegantly balanced by ripeness and a lifted finish.

The Seghesio Zinfandels have been scooping Gold medals and
Trophies in the Decanter World Wine Awards and IWC for a number
of years now, proving to an international market that their Zins not
only measure up to the competition, but are in the top rank. Once
Seghesio cousins Ted and Pete had made the decision over 15
years ago to focus on getting the best from their 400 acres of old
Zinfandel, Sangiovese and Barbera vineyards, they realised that a
high level of skill was required. They brought in Phil Freese, the
renowned vineyard consultant, to advise them on how to get the
best from their vineyards planted in the Dry Creek and Alexander
Valleys. Then they took on Italian consultant Alberto Antonini to
improve the quality of the Sangiovese and Barbera they were
producing. Albertoís influence can also be seen in the ripe, juicy,
approachable style of Zinfandel which has become their hallmark.
