Tasting Notes:
The nose is very rich with a mix of bramble, bilberry and sloe enriched by black truffles. The richness on both nose and palate are refreshed by hints of red fruits that give brightness to the mid and end palate. There is power and depth with richness of flavours, complexity and a lovely flowing elegance. Although it seems ready now it ideally needs another 4/5 years before it is in its prime. The new winery - a phoenix rising out of the stony arid soil - aims to combine the best of old and new technology when completed: above ground, stainless steel, oak vats and gravity feeds; underground, a cellar designed to hold 2,800 oak barrels at a constant temperature and humidity. The three vineyards in the la Consulta region of Mendoza are planted to classic red varieties, with an emphasis on Tempranillo. Working with a number of local growers, Bodegas Fournier also buy in very good grapes from old vines - a system which actively encourages green harvest and low yields. The winemaker is Jose Spisso, previously from Alta Vista.
