Hollick Avant Garde Sparkling Merlot 2008 Coonawarra

Tasting Notes:
Available in cases of 6 only Appearance: Vibrant purple with crimson hues, the wine will develop brick red hues with bottle maturation. Aromas: Clean and fresh aromas of violets, plums and blackberries are enhanced by dark chocolate notes. Flavours: Generously fruity with a predominance of plums, cherry and bramble fruit flavours. The palate is further enhanced by underlying flavours of chocolate and liquorice with soft velvety tannins.

In 1998 Hollick expanded north of Coonawarra by developing the 24 ha Red Ridge vineyard at Wrattonbully on a prime outcrop of terra rossa soil which includes trial plantings of Tempranillo and Sangiovese. 2007 saw Hollick celebrate their 25th Anniversary. It was also the year that Ian's daughters Mel and Kate joined 'the firm'. The appropriately named restaurant 'Upstairs at Hollick' is the first winery restaurant in Coonawarra and has been a tremendous success with panoramic views of the vineyards and more intimately into their barrel store.
