Tasting Notes:
Available in cases of 6 only Glenelly 2007 is a deep and dark wine much like the 2006 vintage. Rich, savoury character of Shiraz with specifics flavours of blackberries, cherries, cassis and floral tones. Good richness of ripe fruit and pepper-spice supported by a firm tanins structure. Very good wood integration. The palate entry develop tremendous concentration of flavours with a very good complexity and a finish fresh and dry. Independents Note: The nose has a herbal freshness and it shows on the palate. The black fruit mix feels ripe, sweetness of flavour in the middle with hints of coffee beans adding interest. Black plum gives some flesh towards the back whilst blackcurrant adds depth of flavour. Derek Smedley MW 2010

Why in 2003 did May de Lencquesaing, then owner of the famous Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande (well known classified growth in Bordeaux), purchase the Glenelly Estate? Why after 30 years in the wine business in France would she decide to plant vines in South Africa? Why would an 'older' lady invest in this 'younger' democracy and start a new adventure? Because she believes in the soil, the micro climate and the potential for quality wines. Because she believes in continuing the French heritage of wine making in South Africa going back more than three centuries. Because she believes in this great country and its people, and wishes to play a part in its economic development.
