This 2011 Sauvignon Blanc shows a mineral pureness, of ripe tropical flavours, gooseberries balanced by a lush herbaceousness of capsicum and a hint of citrus fruits. Bridget Ennals and Steve Pellett travelled the world to find a place to put down their roots. They found that place at the top of New Zealand’s South Island, under the cool gaze of Mount Tapuae-O-Uenuku (the footprint of the rainbow) in Marlborough’s spectacular Awatere Valley.
The Awatere Valley’s sunny days and cool nights ripen grapes slowly, allowing them to develop herbaceous flavours and gooseberry tastes – distinctively different to the sauvignon produced elsewhere in Marlborough.
