Tasting Notes:
Aromatic and firm with notable fruits of the forest character. Excellent aging potential and long aristocratic finish! This blend is arguably singularly unique in its classic varietal composition. Perhaps best described as a “super tusker blend”. All portions have been matured in best French oak barrels. Vintage 2008 was not a dry vintage, but this did not detract from the strength and potential of this bottling.
Grape Variety: 50% Sangiovese, 22% Pinot Noir, and 13% Nebbiolo, 7% Mourvedre, 6% Barbera and 2% Shiraz.

Near the Southernmost point of Africa lies a valley named Hemel-en-Aarde (Heaven and Earth) framed by mountains and within sight of the ocean, with frost free, soft, beneficial weather and the most perfect clay shale vineyard soils.... Bouchard Finlayson is situated in the wine ward of Walker Bay, mid way between Cape point (Cape Town) and Cape Agulhas (the most southerly tip of Africa). The climate of Walker Bay is largely influenced by the nearby, cold Atlantic Ocean rendering it one of the coolest wine growing areas in the Cape. The Hemel-en-Aarde valley, home to Bouchard Finlayson, is central to Walker Bay. The valley is surrounded and sheltered by a mountain barrier, formed by Galpin Peak (810 meters) and the Tower of Babel (1200 meters), which traps the cloud cover and moisture in from the sea by the prevailing wind. Summer conditions are consequently warm rather than hot, and winter conditions are mild and frost-free.
