Tasting Notes:
Available in cases of 6 only. Deep ruby colour with a purple/meniscus. Sweet ripe spiced plum and red berry fruits brushed with oak vanillin; smooth tannins and multi-layered melange of fruit creates a richly textured mouthful; approachable and seductive with a velvety finish. This wine will reward 2-3 years cellaring although it already delivers great pleasure. 54% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Pinotage Independents Note: The nose is all upfront plum and this fleshiness gives weight on the palate. Damson plum is enriched by some sloe and refreshed by brighter bilberry. The power of fruit gives richness on the finish. Derek Smedley MW 90 points

Kaapzicht is situated up in the Bottelary Hills with magnificent views towards Table Mountain. The farm was first mentioned in 1712 and was purchased by the Steytler family in 1946. The 174 ha estate has 135 ha of vineyards planted on mainly north facing slopes. An ambitious planting programme is seeing the replacement of the Chenin vineyards with top quality red varieties while the old gnarled Pinotage Bush Vines are given tender care and attention. The ever modest, dedicated family team consists of Danie making the wine, his brother George the viticulturist and Danie's wife Yngvild responsible for sales and marketing. They all live on the farm with a menagerie of animals and an open house to friends and family. Success could not have come to nicer or more hard working people.
